Is pet insurance worth it for a kitten?
There’s a common misconception that you don’t need insurance for kittens like you do for older cats. This could not be further from the truth and getting your kitten insured as early as possible can help you financially if illness or injury does occur.
Vet fees
Up to £20,000 each year, renewed in full every year.
Travel and accommodation
If your vet refers your kitten to another vet for treatment, we’ll pay up to £300 for travel and accommodation expenses.

Behavioural treatment
If your kitten needs to see a certified behavioural specialist, and you’re referred by your vet, you’re covered up to £750.

The fastest way to be reunited with your kitten if it is lost or strays, free for the first 12 months with your new pet insurance.
Common conditions
As long as there were no symptoms or signs before the start of the policy, your policy will cover a wide range of common conditions, including:
- Dental illness and injury (excluding routine check-ups, elective treatments, crowns and root canal procedures).
- Diabetes.
- Hyperthyroidism.

These can be difficult to spot at birth and expensive to treat.

What's not covered
Cover for pre-existing conditions that started before your policy
Conditions that began or showed symptoms before your policy started are considered pre-existing. Conditions that arise after your policy exclusion period ends are covered as long as the policy remains active.
The cost of routine pet care, such as vaccinations and check-ups
But, if you choose our most extensive cover, we’ll give you a £25 voucher every year to help with the cost.

How much does kitten insurance cost?
The average price for kitten insurance from Agria is £24 per month. This is based on all policies sold in 2023. It’s worth bearing in mind that Agria policies are Lifetime Policies which are generally more expensive than as they offer a higher level of cover.
