Agria Pet Insurance has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Data and MI Analyst to join our team. This role hybrid, working remotely and from our office in Aylesbury.

About the role

Working alongside the Data & MI Manager, serve as a coordinator for data management and reporting requirements including the accurate preparation and integration of data between systems, development and maintenance of reports and dashboards for management & staff.

The purpose of the role is to bridge the gap between the supply of our management information and the day-to-day data analysis and the conclusions being drawn. 

Experience in Insurance and using SAS preferable.  

Main responsibilities and duties

Overall:

  • Provide a full SAS reporting support service to the business. 
  • Claims analysis & reporting 
  • Support end users to utilise the data contained in the information systems.
  • Provide guidance to achieve and maintain compliant data systems.
  • Assist with the coordination and troubleshooting of database issues.
  • Develop and manage internal data integrity, system designs, business logic rules and procedures.
  • Remain on top of developments in the industry and make proposals on the direction the company should take with regards to the data strategy.
  • Develop and maintain PowerBI reporting in accordance with business needs.
  • Anticipate business requirements for information and implement robust, accurate and reliable solutions.

Data analysis:

  • Responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting large sets of data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions. Use statistical methods, software tools, and programming languages to clean and manipulate data, create dashboards, and develop predictive models.
  • Work across all departments, playing a crucial role in helping the business to make data-driven decisions that can improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and business outcomes.

Report generation:

  • Manage datasets for mailings, marketing campaigns, telephone lists etc.
  • Design reports and data dashboards based on specific requirements.
  • Ensure data accuracy and troubleshoots inconsistencies.
  • Coordinate and create key metrics and business benchmark reports.
  • Manage reporting tools and prepare accurate reports for management.
  • Provide and facilitate data and reporting requests as required.

Process and methodology:

  • Release process management of all SAS software changes - in conjunction with the Data & MI Manager:
  • Manage delivery in line with the Agria UK Change Management Framework and the CAB (Change Advisory Board) process.
  • Make reporting and process improvements and enhancement suggestions.

System maintenance and technical:

  • Ongoing support of the SAS software environment including the prompt coordination and troubleshooting of BAU database faults / break fix issues, patching, upgrades, fault resolution assistance and the delivery of projects / change requests.

Other duties:

  • Be fully conversant and ensure all company and departmental policies, procedures and standards are adhered too at all times
  • Carry out additional duties requested by a member of the management team, as the requirements of the business demand
  • Attend training, meetings, and (where relevant) company events
  • Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Proficient Microsoft Power BI user (minimum 2 years’ experience)
  • Certified Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst

Skills:

Essential skills:

  • Expert in in analysing, collecting, storing and creating business intelligence reports.
  • Extensive experience of testing data in information systems.
  • Business acumen and problem-solving skills to review complex data from various sources, can identify trends or gaps and can resolve any shortfalls or integrity queries.
  • An analytical mind – able to compile complicated data sets based on business needs.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks in a fast-paced, responsive, working environment.
  • A resourceful and eager attitude, to develop skills in programming and data analysis.
  • Must possess the gravitas to present to Senior management, the work ethic to continually look for improvements and the intellectual capacity to understand the future of the business.
  • High Level of IT proficiency including extensive use of advanced Excel (e.g., xlookup, PowerPivot), constructing formulas
  • Ability to design & build structured data tables to facilitate easy access & deployment of data – whether it be BI, marketing extracts or BAU data feeds.
  • Perform database and application integration and interchanges between locally developed systems and vendor supplied applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and to prioritise own work
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work to agreed performance targets
  • Versatile, with the ability to adapt quickly to the changing needs of a rapidly developing business.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in order to meet business needs

Desirable skills:

  • Expert level of competence with data profiling, segmentation and extraction.
  • Conversant and proficient with both DAX and SQL
