Protecting the Amazon and the precious wildlife within
As pet lovers, we all know the joy and comfort that animals bring to our lives. But did you know that there are many species out there in the wild, from howler monkeys to freshwater dolphins, that rely on the lush and vibrant Amazon rainforest to thrive? Our commitment to protecting their habitats is one of the many ways we’re giving back to our planet.
The Russas Project
The Amazon rainforest is often called the lungs of our Earth. Spanning millions of acres, it’s home to countless animals, including some of the most diverse and rare species on the planet. Sadly, the Amazon has been facing intense pressures from deforestation and illegal activities. Threats that endanger not only the forest, but also all the beautiful animals that live there. That’s why we are supporting the Russas Project, located in the state of Acre, Brazil.
The Russas Project protects over 41,000 hectares of pristine Amazon rainforest. Not only does it help prevent deforestation, but it also provides sustainable economic opportunities to local communities, encouraging them to keep these valuable ecosystems intact. This is climate action at its most powerful - combining community support with environmental conservation.
Why does this matter to pet lovers like us?
Because protecting natural habitats means protecting the many species that share our planet. From scarlet macaws to playful monkeys swinging through the treetops, every creature in the Amazon plays an essential role in maintaining the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Without these rich habitats, the biodiversity of our world, including the health and happiness of us and our pets, is at risk.
The Russas Project is certified to the highest standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard and Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standard at Gold Level, making sure that it delivers real and lasting benefits. The project doesn’t just tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions, it also helps families thrive through initiatives such as educational programs for local children, women's empowerment projects, and agricultural training.
As we works towards our focus of People, Planet and Pets, we’re proud to be contributing to preserving this rare ecosystem and helping local people build a sustainable future.
